Proposed Site Plan
Although we were able to fund the purchase, renovation and new construction, there was only enough funding to include the basic needs of an arts based school by providing a dance classroom, and classrooms for the band, orchestra, choir and art. Although these rooms will provide the space to hold the classes, they will be far short of what a performing arts school truly needs to enhance the students education.

One area, which will greatly impact the school is there will not be an auditorium for rehearsals and performances forcing us to rent facilities to accommodate the many performances we host each year. The estimated cost for a 400 seat auditorium is $4 million dollars.

The IACS Foundation is working on raising the funds to help cover the cost of adding the auditorium through two annual fundraising events - Idaho's Rising Star Vocal Singing Competition and The Idaho Festival of the Arts. There are currently enough students on our waiting list to start another school!

Additional Funding Goals

Another part of the IACS Foundation's vision for the school facility is to not only benefits the students of IACS, but we hope to be able to open our facility up for after school art programs including lessons for underprivileged children in the neighborhood and surrounding community.

The Foundation Board is currently identifying potential partners in developing and implementing these much needed after school art programs for students in the surrounding community who do not have access to these types of art and music programs.

Our Current Funding

The Idaho Arts Charter School 2006-2007 school year is based on a $2.6 total operating budget. Academic instruction is funded by the State of Idaho, totaling $2.8M annually [Learn More about funding differences for Charter Schools vs. Public Schools].

Although the IACS receives some funding from the State of Idaho, the majority of funding for the new school will rely on the generosity of individual donors, donations from the business community, and grants from foundations to help fund our building campaign.
